Imidazole is a five membered, heterocyclic ring, which contains two hetero (nitrogen) atoms and two double bonds. There are so many compounds which contain Imidazole ring and exhibit different types of pharmacological and biological activities like metronidazole and nitrosoimidazole as bactericidal, 1-vinyl imidazole as fungicidal, megazol as trypanocidal, imidazole-2-one as antileishmanial and other antimicrobial activities.
